In Memory Of
Sharon Hall Fogarty
1958 - 2023

Our beloved Sharon passed peacefully away with her husband at her side on January 16, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Akron to Robert and Joyce (Fike) Hall on September 22, 1958.

A proud 1977 graduate of Akron East High School, Sharon continued her education at Wittenberg University and then obtained both her Masters and PhD in Education at The University of Akron. After graduation, Sharon worked with a number of school districts. She was inducted into the East High School Hall of Fame for her work in Education.

Sharon reconnected with her fellow East High graduate, Jim Fogarty, at their 10th year reunion. Thus began a new life together.

Sharon tried to retire numerous times, first retiring from the Akron City Schools as the Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator. But she was always drawn back to her love of teaching. So it surprised no one when she went to work as a Gifted Coordinator for the Summit County Educational Services Center.

When she did retire for the final time, she greatly enjoyed traveling with Jim, working in her gardens, and visiting with family and friends. She was active in many organizations (she didn’t know how to say “no”), but especially enjoyed working as part of the East HS Alumni Association and the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

Sharon leaves her husband and life partner, Jim; her parents, Bob and Joyce Hall; sister Lisa (Kevin) Dunn; cousin David (Kim) Goessler (like a brother); sisters-in-laws Lee Fogarty and Karen (Keith) Fogarty, and brother-in-law Mike Fogarty; nieces and nephews Emily and Megan Dunn, Kyle and Courtney Goessler, and Brittany, Jim (Jessica), and Michael Fogarty, and numerous family members.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd.

Whether sending by mail, or using the link, please indicate the donation is in memory of Sharon Hall and designate to the Akron House.

We would like to thank everyone for lifting Sharon up once she learned of her diagnosis - whether it was your prayers, cards, food, visits, yard work, and everything else, Jim and the family could not have dedicated our efforts to helping Sharon without your support.
