Steven M. Allen, age 67 of Akron passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021. A lifelong resident of Akron, Steve was born to the late Mark and Norma {Daily} Allen.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his son, Craig Allen and father- and mother-in-law William and Patricia Shawbell.

Steve will be loved and missed dearly by his love of 42 years, Barbara; daughter Lisa (Joe) McCormick; son Derek Johnson; grandson Nick McCormick; sisters Marsha (Dick) Krentz and Sherri Guzman; cousins Brenda (Steve) Baxter and Cindy Jarvis; siblings-in-law Richard (Donna) Shawbell, Russell (Valarie) Shawbell, Steven (Tracy) Shawbell, Scott Shawbell and Kelly (Michael) Livigni; many nieces and nephews; special friends Jason and Toby Laber.

He retired from Kenmore Construction, where he made many good friends. Steve was a U.S. Navy Seabee, and his pride and love for all things patriotic culminated in his annual Fourth of July picnics, with fireworks, of course! He loved working in his yard, especially decorating with Christmas lights; Steve was the Clark Griswold of his neighborhood. Steve enjoyed attending baseball games, especially to cheer on the Cleveland Indians and the Rubber Ducks with his grandson, son and nephew. He greatly enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with Barb, and visiting the MGM Northfield Park on Tuesdays.

Friends and family are welcome to visit on Friday, May 7 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, 44305 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the limited seating 12:00 noon service, with Father Michael Williamson officiating. Interment to follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
