1932 - 2019

James R. Pinney, 87, of Akron, passed away at his residence on August 16, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was raised in New Marshfield, Ohio and graduated from Waterloo High School. He played as a pitcher in baseball. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling (especially out West). In recent years, he loved spending time on the computer, going out to eat, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, David and Luevelle Pinney; two brothers, Chester and Dean Pinney; and sister, Erma Jean Dowler.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Pinney; daughter, Denise Wilson; grandchildren, James Brady Jr., and Natasha Brady; great-grandchildren; adopted grandkids, Marisa Mauck, Melissa Kungle, and James Gregory; best friend, Mike Fredricks; brother-in-law, Robert (Lynn) Congrove; sister-in-law, Ruth Congrove; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday August 23, 2019 at 1pm at Hillside Memorial Park Chapel 1025 Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44312.
