Saundra L. Weaver, 84, went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2019. Saundra was born in Akron on October 23, 1934 to the late Howard and Emma Mankamyer. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bob Jones University and her Master's degree from Kent State University. Saundra's career in education included teaching positions at Field Local Schools and Springfield Township Schools. After 30 years in the Springfield School District, she retired and spent the next 35 years preparing tax returns at H&R Block. Saundra was a longtime member of Heritage Baptist Church, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. She had many interests, including spending time with her granddaughters, gardening, and dog sitting. Above all, she was a true people person and strangers quickly became friends. She corresponded regularly with loved ones and never forgot a birthday. In addition to her parents, Saundra was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Baer. She will be dearly missed by her sons, Michael (Haiou) and John (Crystal) Weaver; brother, Richard Mankamyer; granddaughters, Emily and Mira Weaver; and many other relatives and friends.Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5-7 followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Saundra will be privately laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
