Jean "Jeannie" Shaffer
1939 - 2016

Jean Marie "Jeannie" Shaffer (Kean), 76, went home to be with the Lord and her Parents on August 21, 2016. She was born in Titusville, PA and spent most of her life in Akron. Jean was born to Steward Robinson and Mabel Georgia Iverson Kean. She was a member of Scroggsville United Presbyterian Church in Carrolton, OH and also attended Oak Hill Presbyterian Church in Akron. Jean enjoyed working as a nurse for 43 years at Akron Children's Hospital in cardiology. More than anything, she loved children and treasured her relationships with friends. Jean enjoyed gardening, nature, dancing at Meyer's Lake with Gary, and taking photos to add to her many albums. She was a wonderful wife to Gary, loving mother to Heidi and Holly, and to her sister Lois.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gary; daughters, Heidi (Dennis Londeck) Shaffer Triola, and Holly (David) Shaffer Chappie; grandchildren, Matt Triola, Nathan and Brian Chappie; sister, Lois Bracken; nephews and nieces, Kathi, Don, Bruce, Wendy, Denise, and Christine; nephews and niece-in-law, Don, Thomas, Liz, and Robert; and sister-in-law, Julia Hart.

Family will welcome guests on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 27, 2016 with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. Greater East Ohio Area, 70 W. Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
