James L. Landis, 73, of Suffield went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2015. He was born in Stow, OH on June 26, 1941 to the late Paul and Nellie Landis. He was a veteran in the US Navy proudly serving from 1960 to 1964. James retired from the Bricklayer's Union in 2005. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved working in the yard and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years, Betty Landis; and sister, Betty Kamish. James is survived by wife, Betty Mathia; sons, Todd, Mark (Robin), and Jeff (Mary Alice); step-children, Danny, Ricky and Ronny (Lisa); grandchildren, Gage, Jessica, Matthew, Isiaha, Jason, Amanda, Cody, Cory, Jesse, Sarah, Maggie, Ali, and Natalie; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed and Dan Landis; sisters, Pauline Helwig, Shirley Frandsen, Helen McCurdy; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Friends may call the chapel from 9-11. Pastor David Ballert officiating.
