Delores Vaughn (Winningham)
1930 - 2017

Delores was born in Akron, Ohio on August 21, 1930 to Bertha and Perry Winningham. She lived most of her life in Akron, but moved to Tennessee for a short period of time, where she met and was married to the love of her life, Raleigh Vaughn for 70 years. She passed away in her home on October 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Delores was a devout Christian woman and a member of the Tallmadge Church of Christ for many years. Her greatest joy in life was her family. "A great woman's life is like a journey with many roles: a mother who gives life; a sister who gives support; a daughter who brings joy; a grandmother who gives wisdom; and a wife who gives everything."
She is survived by her son, James (Billie) Vaughn; daughter, Kathy (Bill) Brown; daughter-in-law, Janice Vaughn; ten grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty, Peg, Inez, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Bertha Winningham; husband, Raleigh; son, Kenneth; brother, Jerry; and sisters, Kay, Frances, and Sue.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for one hour prior at Tallmadge Church of Christ, 737 Southeast Ave., Tallmadge, Evangelist Lewis Willis officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
The family gives special thanks to Linda, Michelle, and Paulette from Hospice of Summa for all their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Summa.
