Johnny C. Blevins
1940 - 2017

After kicking cancer's butt for 20 years, Johnny C. Blevins, 77, of Akron, passed away April 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on January 28, 1940 and he traveled the world with the U.S. Air Force throughout his lifelong service. He retired as a Master Sergeant. Johnny was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was a great listener and a very generous man. He had a contagious laugh, warm smile and loved those he interacted with. Johnny was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan; he enjoyed fishing, horse racing, gambling and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Blevins; his son, Jeffrey Blevins.

Johnny will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Suzanne Blevins; children, Gary Blevins (Denise Simon), Kari (Robert) Scherer, Brenda (Brian) Baranek, Beth Burk, Ricks (Tracie) Finney and Tahlya (Kyle) Beague; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amanda) Blevins, Samantha and Brandon Baranek, Emma, Alyssa "Gracie" and Noah Scherer, Adele and Alivia Beaque, Julia and Joey Finney; loving friend, Claudine, and his canine companion "Rosie".

The family wishes to thank Dr. Trochelman at Summa Health System for his exceptional care for the last 20 years. Our gratitude to the Summa family for their "care beyond" attitude.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 4-7:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, with a memorial service immediately following visitation at 7:30 pm.
