Roger Raymond Dodd, age 74 of Akron, Ohio, died peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:35 PM at Akron General Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 2, 1942 in Akron, the son of the late Orlan B. and Frances Cornell Dodd.

Roger graduated in 1960 from Central High School and in 1983 from the University of Akron with a BS degree in Biology/Chemistry. He retired in 2012 from Akron General Medical Center in the Lab. He loved to garden, travel, go to flea markets, and spending time with his dog, Diesel. Roger was a member of AGREE at Akron General Medical Center, as an ombudsman to improve communication between employees and workplace morale. He was socially very active and enjoyed the company of his friends and family.

Survivors include his two nieces, Michelle L. (Greg) Dodd-Jay of Akron and Kathleen M. (Eric Norton) Dodd of Alexandria, VA; cousins, Melinda (Louis) Schultz of San Antonio, TX, John Fleming of Austin, TX, Ruth Ann Dodd, Max (Laura Belle) Dodd, Gary (Sue) Dodd, Greg (Dale) Dodd all of Pennsboro, WV, and Janice (Paul) Quinn of Akron, and many other cousins and friends.

Other than his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Frances Cornell and Granville and Nettie Dodd; and one infant brother, Michael Dodd; and a dear friend, Patsy Brown.

Memorial services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 5:00 PM, where family and friends may visit from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Father Michael Williamson will celebrate Roger's life.
