William J. "Bud" Grabbe, 84, passed away peacefully September 12, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he resided in both Summit and Wayne County in Ohio. Bud was a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was Sergeant on the Wayne County Sheriff's Department as well as Chief of Police in Marshallville. He was a proud member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bud enjoyed spending time with his family and playing music. He formed the band "Bud Grabbe and the Roadrunners" and had the band for 59 years. During this time he had the opportunity to play with many talented musicians and create an amazing Roadrunner family.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Melva (Wagner) Grabbe; grandchildren, Daniel, Victoria, Coraline, and William Grabbe. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Barbara "Bobbi"; sons, Jeremy (Lisa) Grabbe, Chris (Courtney) Grabbe, Steve (Linda) Grabbe; grandchildren, David, Harmony, Alex, Gina, Danni, Marcus.
Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Next month there will be a celebration of Bud's life - details will be announced.
