William E. Mercer
July 23, 1919 — September 11, 2016
William E. Mercer (Ed), born July 23, 1919 passed away September 11, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death in 1999 by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Marie. He attended Uniontown Methodist Church.
Ed was happiest while on the golf course or spending time with his grandchildren. For years he was known as the softball "Team Grandpa."
Left to celebrate his life are his son Gary (Terry) and daughter Linda, grandchildren Laura (Lary), Kristin and Brent, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and several great-great nieces.
We would like to thank Bonnie, Jim, Joyce and Bob from Midway Manor as well as Crossroads Hospice who kept Ed happy and comfortable the last two years. He was also blessed to have so many old friends who were never too busy to stop in for a visit or take him to the golf course, even if all he could do was ride the front nine on a cart!
In Ed's memory, we ask that you take the time to visit or call your senior loved one. Five minutes out of a busy schedule can make such a difference.
Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 10 am at United Methodist Church of Uniontown, 13370 Cleveland Avenue NW, Uniontown. Memorials may be made to the Church or the American Cancer Society.
