William E. Blackburn, 92, of Akron, passed away October 8, 2012. He was born in Valley Head, AL on November 17, 1919 to the late William and Jesse Blackburn.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
William is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lessie; daughters Loretta (Greg) Falk, Carol (Barry ) Pfaff, Wanda (Chris) Wines, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister Mae Singe, sister-in-law Betty Blackburn and many nieces and nephews. He was part owner of Woodstock Leasing, retiring from the trucking industry in 1975.
Family and friends may call on Monday, October 15, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Akron Baptist Temple, 2324 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH where funeral services will follow visitation at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to The National Federation of the Blind (nfb.org).
