William "Bill" C. Ferrell, 89, of Akron, passed away December 18, 2013. He was born in Piedmont, OH on April 22, 1924 to the late George and Lola Ferrell.
Bill attended grade school at Piedmont and high school at Freeport, OH, where he participated in most sports. Bill loved music and won many amateur contests in southern Ohio, as a singer. He later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a veteran of World War II and served in Europe as a Constabulary Trooper. He spent most of his life in Law Enforcement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a former member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police. He was an active member of the United States Constabulary Association.
Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye, Orvilla and Avis; brothers, Alvin, Fred, Ronald and Paul. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Herta, of 65 years; sons, William Jr (Joetta). and Robert (Margret); daughter, Rose (Ron) Aungst; grandchildren, Troy, Scott, Chris Ferrell and Julie Farrell, William Aungst; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Dereck, Curtis, George, Conner and Macailia; great great-granddaughter, Bailee.
Family and friends may call on Friday, December 20, from 12-1 p.m. at New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd., Akron. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jim Bane officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Horizons Christian Church.
