Willa B. Hancock
Willa B. Hancock, 92, passed away at home on October 26, 2014. She was born in Siler City, NC on December 17, 1921 to the late William and Theo White. Willa spent most of her life in Washington D.C. where she met and married Peter Hancock. Willa worked as a welder during World War II. She and Peter owned and operated Palisades Market in Georgetown, D.C. for over 20 years. They retired to Florida where Peter passed away in 1991. For the past 20 years, Willa has resided in Akron. She attended FallsCreek Community Church in Munroe Falls and was very active at the CYO Senior Center. One of her favorite hobbies was embroidering pillowcases as gifts.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents, William and Theo; husband, Peter; son, Walter Gaines; and five siblings. She will be deeply missed by her children, Helen Hancock (Alan), Betty Jean Likovetz (Thomas), Peter Hancock VI (Claire), and William Hancock (Laura); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Willa will be laid to rest with Peter in Ormond Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CYO Adult Day Services, 812 Biruta St., Akron, OH 44307.
