Wayne A. Johnston, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Vindex, Maryland, in 1934 to Dessie and James Johnston, Wayne grew up alongside an older sister and three younger brothers in a loving and hardworking family.

A proud veteran, Wayne served honorably during the Korean War and continued his service in the U.S. National Guard for many years before retiring. His dedication to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family and community.

Wayne spent most of his life in Akron, Ohio, where he built a life rooted in kindness, laughter, and positivity. He was known for his jovial spirit, generous heart, and the bright, welcoming smile he offered to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret “Peggy” Johnston, his sons Russell Johnston and Edward Isbell; as well as infant daughter Marilyn Sue Johnston. .

Wayne is survived by: daughters Kim Toney and Carol Johnston, and son Dennis Johnston. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
