Walter Rorar

Walter L Rorar, 77, of, Akron passed away August 20, 2014. Walter was born in Wood, Pa., on April 5, 1937 to the late Thomas and Margaret Rorar. Walter served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 36 years of service. He was a member for many years of the Knights of Columbus, Moose, MAPS, Hibernians Club and St. Matthews Church. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, walking, and volunteering at Stewart's Caring Place and Camp CHOPS. Walter will always be remembered for his big infectious smile and his ability to make everyone he met laugh. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Marion; grandson, Walter Anthony Rorar. Walter is survived by his daughter, Aileen (Michael) McDonald, sons, James (Melissa) Rorar and Michael (Jen) Rorar; grandchildren, Mikayla, Meghan, Melanie, Erin, Kennedy, Sean; significant other, Mary M Waugh and many other family and friends. Family and friends may call on Monday, August 25 from 5 to 8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron. Funeral Mass will be 11am Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. Matthew Church, 2580 Berne, and Akron with Fr. Mike Williamson presiding. Interment to follow in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Matthew Church.
