Virginia “Ginny” Roberts

Virginia “Ginny” Roberts, 90, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, enduring friendships, and a legacy of love for her family.

Born on October 16, 1935, in Elizabeth, West Virginia, Ginny was the beloved daughter of William and Florene McLain.

Ginny built a successful career in the hospitality industry, where her warmth, impeccable service, and genuine kindness earned her countless loyal customers and lifelong friends who often followed her wherever she worked. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and those who knew her never forgot her.

An adventurous spirit, Ginny loved to travel and treasured her trips to Japan, Brazil and Lake Tahoe. She enjoyed challenging her mind with word games, proudly completing The New York Times crossword puzzles—in ink—and was always delighted to outwit her granddaughter Jennifer in spirited games of Boggle, never just letting her win.

Above all else, Ginny’s greatest joy was her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren filled her heart with pride, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was known for her classy style, quick wit, and just the right amount of sass, leaving everyone who knew her with stories that will be shared for years to come.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Roberts; her sons, Gary and Terry Davis; her parents, William and Florene McLain; and her brothers, William, Robert, and Thomas McLain.

She leaves behind her loving daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Bob Sansonetti; her sisters, Patricia Sells and Sue Clausen; her beloved grandchildren Jennifer, Stacey, Beth, Tony, Nathan, Corey, Jason, and Amanda; nine treasured great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember her grace, generosity, laughter, and unmistakable spirit.

The family would like to thank everyone who shared in Ginny’s life and the many friendships she treasured over the years.

Funeral services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio on Friday, August 14th at 11:15 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266, in honor of Ginny’s lifelong love of animals.
