The Ellet Senior Center Euchre players lost one of their best today. Virginia "Boots" Greathouse passed away Sunday morning January 28, 2018. She just celebrated her 92nd birthday on January 1st.
Virginia was born in Spencer, WV to Harry and Mable (Starcher) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and granddaughter, Wendy Goehler. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Connie (Joe) Goehler, Mick (Lynn) Greathouse, and Sharon (Joe) Croston. Virginia will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Scott Goehler, Aimee (John) Harris, Melissa (Nick) Bryant and Matt Croston. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Joe Goehler, James Cramer, John, Maddox, Mason and Alexia Harris, Nathan, Benson, Kaitlyn and soon to arrive Brooklyn Bryant.
Mom was a strong, intelligent, funny lady. She was a fierce competitor in any kind of card game (Especially euchre), and enjoyed playing card games on the computer and cussing out the player that gave her the queen of spades in the hearts game. She loved all of us and would stand up against anyone who she thought was wronging us. She also never shied away from telling you how she thought you should handle things.
We will all miss her so much, but we are happy she is celebrating her new heavenly body and playing euchre with her other friends that went before her. Special thanks to the Summa at Home Hospice group for taking such good care of her - especially, Amy, Michelle, Lisa and Kim.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial service will follow at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Virginia's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
