Virgil G. Plymire

Virgil G. Plymire, age 73, of Akron joined his wife Patricia in Heaven on Monday, February 16, 2026. He was born in New Castle, PA on August 24, 1952 to the late Virgil J. and Esther.

In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Plymire in 2014, daughter Lora Balthis and siblings Charles, Bonnie, Harley and Homer.

Virgil's memory will always be cherished by his girls Lisa (Patrick), Ashley (Jay) and Tricia; grandchildren Russy, Aiden, Brynn; sister Virgene Mallone; many nieces and nephews, including Marc, whom he raised.

Virgil had a longtime career with the City of Akron, both at Akron Fulton Airport and in the street cleaning division. He made co-workers into lifelong friends in his years with the city, and they certainly have some stories!

In his free time, Virgil loved to be outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. The joy of his life was being a Grandpa, and he had quite the habit of spoiling them rotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Wednesday, February 25th from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., when the funeral service will begin.
