Listen to Obituary

Our sweet precious Mom, Violet Louise Claytor, peacefully entered her eternal home in glory on February 19, 2026 at the age of 97. She was welcomed with open arms by her beloved husband Calvin. Their 72 years of a faithful and devoted marriage will now continue for eternity.

Mom was born in Greenville, Kentucky on March 19, 1928 to the late Carol Coleman and Mae Agnes Robinson. She was preceded in death by brother Guy Coleman and brother Edwin Coleman and his wife Rae. She was a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She sang in the choir, served as a deaconess, taught first grade Sunday School for over 30 years, was an active member of Friends Together and the Women's Mission Society Grace Circle. She attended Graham Schools in Kentucky, where she was a member of the National Beta Club and Glee Club. She worked at Hower's Department Store as a sales clerk and then later as an assistant secretary for Akron Public Schools. Ultimately, she became a full time homemaker and the rest of her life work was centered solely on being a devoted wife and mother.

She thoroughly enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and baking. She was very thankful for all of her family and friends. She loved our Dad with unconditional compassion and respect. She modeled and taught us to love one another as Christ first loved us.

Though our hearts are heavy, we can rejoice and say "All is Well."

She leaves behind to continue her legacy, son David (Susan) Claytor; daughter Patti (Hugh) Jones; grandchildren Kit, Cathy (Eric), John (Ashlee), Justin (Kara), Nathan (Jennifer); her great-grandchildren Kinsley, Evan (Faith), Emrie, Owen, Ireland, Graham, Lily, Kylie, Alayna, Caleb, Logan, Tyler; great-great-grandson Kohen; sister Eleanor (Ron) Wilkinson and sister-in-law Judy Coleman.

We would like to thank the staff of Gentlebrook for their exceptional love and care for Mom these past 5 years. The Homestead staff and residents, both past and present, truly became a wonderful addition to our family. We also want to acknowledge Crossroads Hospice of Green for providing Mom's most recent gentle care.
