Viola Pitz Frederick, 1922-2014
On December 4, 2014, Viola Pitz Frederick passed peacefully at the age of 92 years young. She is reunited with her daughter Karen Locke, mother Myrtle Renfand, father, Joseph Hewitt, brother, Bud Hewitt, and sister, Mary Rife.
Viola was born in Texarkana, Arkansas where she lived for six long weeks until she moved to southern Ohio. She later moved to the Akron area where she married and raised her children Bob, Karen, Kathy, Debby, and five stepchildren.
There are countless memories with our mom and grandma. Many of which involved the kitchen and parties around the dinner table. She was a world class chef, our number one cheerleader, and our magical Mary Poppins. She loved animals, Swenson's vanilla milkshakes, and the Cleveland Indians. Most of all she loved her family.
At any given time, her house was full of laughter, good food, and all of her kids: Bob (Marian) Pitz, Kathy (Frank) Racco, Debby (Bob) McCracken; grandchildren Lisa, Kim, Jeff, Jason, Jill and Dana; great grandchildren Josh, Cayli, Alyssa, Jordan, Brandon, Tyler, Jenna and Kolten and great great grandson Ryland; five step children and countless friends and extended family members. And, of course, her special friend, Bob Barker.
Calling hours are Monday, December 8 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge on Tuesday, December 9 at 11:00am with burial immediately following at Hillside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Akron Children's Hospital Foundation designated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062.
