Verna Mae Parks

Verna Mae Parks, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Friday, July 31st at her home, surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of the Akron area, Verna was born to the late Guy Brooks and Dorothy {Sherwood} Kulscar.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Floyd, son-in-law Tony Jarvis.

Verna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jeff Parks; children David Ritchey, Donald Ritchey, Susan Jarvis, Sharon (Steve) Long, Sandy (Scott) Brunker and Sheila (Richard) Erdle; step-sons Jimmy and Ronnie (Angie) Parks; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; beloved dog Sammie.

Verna loved traveling on vacations, especially visiting the beach and enjoying a cruise now and again. She loved being with her family and friends, and frequently hosted gatherings, holidays and other get-togethers throughout the years. Verna was formally trained in ballet in troupes in Canada, as well as tap and ballroom. She never enjoyed herself more than when she was dancing with her husband, Jeff.

Verna loved to be outside, tending to her flowers. She and Jeff could often be found out on their motorcycle in their younger years. They enjoyed listening to music with friends and family. Verna was the rock of her family, and her caring, generous spirit will be fondly remembered by all those that love her and were loved by her.
