Verlin E Talkington, 84, of Akron, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014. Verlin was born in Braxton County, West Virginia on February 22, 1930 to the late Lee and Nancy Talkington. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Verlin retired from Atlantic Foundry and Knapp Foundry. He was a member of the Steel Workers Local. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Verlin was preceded in death by his seven sisters and four brothers. He is survived by wife, Julia Talkington of 45 years, daughters, Nancy (Donnie) Loughney, Amy (April) Ross, and Heidi (Christopher) Sankey, grandsons, Joshua Loughney, and James (Jimmy) Fish; granddaughters, Sarah Loughney, Brianne Finney, Emmaleah Finney, and Mackenzie Fish; step grandson, Bishop Sankey; great-granddaughter, Haylie Myers, and great-grandson, Hayden Myers and many special friends, co-workers (Marc's 07FL) and family who were dear to his heart. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 28 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, where funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 7:00 pm with Pastor Robert Lees officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Wednesday at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family of Verlin Talkington.
