Thomas Henry Knapp, a cherished educator, devoted father, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in his hometown of Kent, Ohio. Born on June 21, 1932, Thomas lived a life rich with experiences, wisdom, and the joy of nurturing those around him.

A dedicated High School Math Teacher for over 30 years at Hudson High School Thomas imparted not only knowledge but also the values of hard work and perseverance to his students. His larger-than-life personality and infectious humor made him a beloved figure in the classroom, where he effortlessly blended mathematics with laughter. He was not just a teacher; he was a mentor, encouraging countless young minds to believe in themselves and seek out their potential.

Thomas's academic journey was marked by significant milestones; he obtained his bachelor's degree from Kent State University and furthered his education with a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. His intellectual curiosity and passion for learning were evident throughout his life, inspiring his children and grandchildren to pursue their goals.

Beyond the classroom, Thomas took immense pride in his family and the home he created with his late wife, Norma Knapp, with whom he shared 41 beautiful years. His love for travel and fascination with cars and motorcycles revealed a spirit of adventure that characterized much of his life. Thomas was always ready to hit the road, exploring new places and creating lasting memories with his loved ones.

Raised with strong values of civic engagement, Thomas was a huge supporter of liberal ideals and an avid conversationalist about politics. He enjoyed engaging in spirited discussions, sharing his insights and welcoming differing viewpoints, always with a twinkle in his eye and a playful quip at the ready.

He was honored to serve in the Air Force, where he worked diligently on radars in Germany, a chapter of his life that nurtured his sense of discipline and commitment to his country.

Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience through his sons: Tom, Rick (Jody), Paul, and Bob (Chuck), who carry on his values and wit. He was a proud grandfather to Kaley, Hannah, Julie, Katherine, Joseph, Kyle, Justin, Jenn, and Kristopher, and cherished the joy his ten great-grandchildren brought into his life. His brother, Gary (Cathy) Knapp, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, including Joy Ferris, will also hold him in their hearts, forever remembering the joy he brought into their lives.

Though Thomas has joined his beloved wife Norma, his parents John and Florence, and his son Michael, as well as his brothers Don, John, Bernie, and Ray, his spirit will live on through the stories shared and the love he instilled in his family. As we reflect on his life, we remember a man whose laughter resonated through the halls of education and whose love for family was unwavering.

Thomas Henry Knapp will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and learning will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family will oversee interment of cremains at Standing Rock Cemetery.
