Thomas Lee Hicks

Tom Hicks, 79, of Akron, passed away October 5, 2025. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 9, 1946 to the late Fred (Pauline) Hicks.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving step-mom, Irene Hicks; father- and mother-in-law Richard (Mary Lou) Hawkins; and brothers-in-law, Rick Hawkins and Michael Blair.

Tom was a Green Beret Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army Special Forces.

He retired from Summa Health after 22 years of dedicated service. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Da Bears.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Hicks; daughter, Jamie Hicks; nephews, Ricky Hawkins and Phillip Blair; and sister-in-law, Cindy Blair.

Per Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
