Thomas Glynn White
Thomas Glynn White, 92, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015. He was born on July 9, 1923 in Martin, TN to the late Rupert and Kathleen White. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 20, 1946 he married Thelma Faye King and they celebrated 68 years together. Glynn retired from the Akron Beacon Journal after 35 years as a linotype operator and machinist. He was a member of the Masonic Coventry Akron Lodge 83 and the Tallmadge Community Baptist Church. Glynn had a passion for repairing watches and clocks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, son, William and daughter, Glynda Orman. Survivors include daughter, Sharon Brewen; son, Wayne (Donna Shaver); daughter-in-law, Patricia White; grandchildren, Gerilee Polk, Dana Urquiza, Angela Cleaver, Heather Chapman, Amanda Marzich, Lori Snyder, and Jared White; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Masonic service will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. followed by calling hours from 5-7 and a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jim Vander Schuur officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
