Thomas P. Gifford, Sr. (“Papa Tom”)
Thomas P. Gifford, Sr., affectionately known as “Papa Tom,” passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on April 10, 1939, Tom was the beloved son of the late Walter and Evelyn Gifford. He lived a life rooted in family and friendship, leaving behind countless cherished memories for those who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his loving sons, Thomas P. Gifford, Jr., grandfather of Dylan Gifford; Scott A. Gifford; and Brian J. Gifford and his wife, Megan Reed Gifford, proud grandparents of Ava and Tyler Gifford. He is also survived by his stepson, Jim Zimmer and his wife, Rissa Zimmer, and their children, Bryce and Eliana, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Tom had a passion for bowling and spent many enjoyable years on the lanes with friends. Some of his happiest moments were the annual fishing trips he shared with his sons at Bob’s Lake in Westport, Ontario, Canada. Those trips became treasured family traditions filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will live on for generations.
Above all, Tom will be remembered as a devoted family man whose quiet strength, kindness, and love touched the lives of everyone around him. His family and friends will miss him dearly, but they find comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife, Mary.
In accordance with Tom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. He will be interred alongside his wife, Mary, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Goodnight, “Papa Tom.” We love you, and we will miss you dearly. Until we meet again, may you rest in eternal peace.
