Thomas Appel

Thomas A. Appel passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on June 7, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to Carl and Annie (Ruston) Appel.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and then R.C. Musson Rubber Company where he retired after working over 30 years. Tom enjoyed participating in the fall hiking sprees through the metro parks with his wife and daughter. Tom was a loving, devoted husband and father who enjoyed summer cookouts,being outdoors,working in the yard, gardening and spending time with his family. Tom was respected by all and devoted to caring for his loving wife.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jackie and Arthur Appel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Appel; daughter, Laurie Ann(Allen) Linger; son,Thomas Carl Appel (Robert Knapp); brother, James D.( Jackie) Appel; grandson, Allen Linger II (Emily Moffet) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Tom will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the staff of Summa Care CCU and the Heather Knoll Rehabilitation Center for their special care of Tom.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 am also at Newcomer Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
