Terrance E. Carmedy, 70, of Akron, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2026. Known to family and friends as Terry, he was born in Akron on July 16, 1956 to the late Walter and Doris Carmedy.
Terry spent decades coaching basketball in Akron. He began his coaching career with CYO before coaching at North High School and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
He was an avid golfer and had favorite courses all across the state. One of his favorite golf trips was to Ireland with his brother. One of Terry's best golf stories was about "the birdie he got on number five at Riverwoods".
If you knew Terry, you knew Anne, the love of his life. They met in seventh grade and remained friends for years until marrying on June 5, 1993. From their first date until he passed away in Anne's arms, they were always together.
Over the years, Terry and Anne made wonderful memories on their trips to Myrtle Beach and Middle Bass Island.
Terry was one of a kind. His sense of humor, compassionate spirit, and loving personality will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Carmedy and Thomas Carmedy.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Anne; children, Caroline Carmedy and Kyle Carmedy; sister, Patricia Carmedy Weiler; brother, Dennis Carmedy; grandchildren, Connor Carmedy and Cortney DiRosa; nieces and nephew, Danielle, Bernadette, Brandon, Sarah, and Isabelle; many other extended relatives.
Terry made friends for life. Some of his closest friends he met in childhood, including Joe Roszkowski, Kevin McGuire, Vince Sinopoli, Paul Sturkey, Harvey Barnett, Terry Thome, Gary Alrutz, and Louie Patton. There are many more great friends, but Anne says there are too many to list. Sorry for your luck. He loved you all. And we can't forget all his girlfriends.
Terry's life will be celebrated on November 21, 2026 from 6:00 - 10:00 pm at the PLAV Veterans Club, 383 Dayton St., Akron, Ohio 44310. There will be music and refreshments. Please bring your favorite memory of Terry to share with everyone.
