Tanya Lorraine Boyer was called home September 4, 2016. "Your job is done, it is time to come home and rest in my arms. You have done all that I asked of you."
She was born on December 20, 1948 to James Garfield and Mary (Jackson) Boyer and a life resident of Akron, Ohio.
Tanya graduated from Garfield High School and Central State University, attaining a BS in Accounting. After graduation, her working career involved several organizations starting with Goodyear Tire, Metro Transit Authority, Office of the Auditor of State of Ohio; ending with the position of Finance Director for the City of Streetsboro, OH.
Tanya was active in several organizations throughout her life; most recently she was second vice president of the Federated Democratic Women of Summit County. Her greatest avocation was that of a "friend" and a truer friend you will not find.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Baby Girl and Toni Boyer. She is survived by her brother, James (Lynne) of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Twyla Boyer and Rev. JoAnn Harris both of Akron, OH; nephews, Christopher and Anthony of Kansas City, MO and Kenneth of Fredericksburg, VA; niece, Erica of Kansas City, MO; and a great aunt Thoretha Fox of Akron, OH as well as many cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 Canton Rd., Akron, OH from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. John A. Valencheck at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Avenue, Akron, OH. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, OH.
