Suzanne Swanson

Suzanne Swanson, a beloved figure and lifelong resident of Kent, Ohio, departed this world on March 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on May 11, 1950, in Butler County, Pennsylvania, Suzanne dedicated her life to her family and her community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

At the heart of Suzanne's life were her grandchildren, Gabrielle and Isabelle, who truly were her world. Spending time with them brought her immeasurable joy and laughter, creating cherished memories that will forever be held dear. As a mother and grandmother, she was known for her nurturing spirit and unyielding support, always making her loved ones feel valued.

Suzanne was a hard-working and dedicated individual who embodied a strong sense of community involvement. Her warm demeanor and genuine heart made her well-loved not only by her family but by everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She found joy in small moments, and her kindness resonated broadly, fostering lasting friendships.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Rob Holdt) Murphy, and her son, Tom Murphy, who will carry her legacy forward. Suzanne's joy extended beyond just her children; she was also a proud great-grandmother to Lao and Londyn. Additionally, she leaves behind her two brothers, Joseph (Chris) Smerick and Michael (Jennifer) Smerick, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her fondly.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her cherished parents, Joseph and Mary (Scully) Smerick, and her beloved husband, David C. Swanson.

As we mourn the loss of Suzanne, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her spirit will continue to shine through the hearts of her family, friends, and community. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the stories and the love she so generously shared.

Visitation will be Saturday April 5th from 12 noon-2 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home.
