Sue Brownfield

Sue Brownfield, 81, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, her favorite day of the year, December 24, 2015. She was born in Guernsey County on August 9, 1934 to the late Lena Belle Warne. She was a longtime member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She also served as a greeter, and was an active member of the Joy Seekers. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Brownfield; her adopted parents, Ray and Martha Hogg; and brother, Bill Warne. She is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Glenn) McCoy and Cathy (David) Shanlian; grandchildren, Tiffany (Eric) Yehle, Tracee (Jana) McCoy, Leah (Matt) Hofstetter, Nick (Jenn) McCoy and Matthew (Maria) Shanlian; great-grandchildren, Isabell, Olivia, Bailey, Ella, Harper, Emmaline, Aubrey, Miles, Charlie, Millie and Niko; brother, Robert (Brenda) Warne; sister, Toby (Walter) Worthy; niece, Cindy Riley; best friends, Anna Ruth Shaffer and Pat Dennison; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Monday December 28, 2015 from 4-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 where funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Summa of Hospice.
