Steven J. Jordan

Steven J. Jordan, born on February 9, 1942, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in Akron, Ohio, on August 12, 2026. His life, marked by deep personal connections, steadfast service, and a love for music, leaves an enduring legacy cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.

Steve graduated from East Aurora High School in New York, class of 1960. He served his country with the United States Navy for four years on the USS Lexington.

Professionally, Steve built a career as a propane gas salesman. He approached his work with integrity and a genuine desire to serve others, cultivating lasting relationships through his honesty and warmth.

Steve’s greatest joy, however, was being with people and sharing life’s moments. He had a distinct gift for storytelling and humor, offering laughter and companionship at every turn. Through music, he built bridges and fostered friendships. He sang with passion as part of the Hartsmen Men's Chorus and the New Beginning Quartet, groups that provided not only musical camaraderie but also meaningful moments of connection for both him and his audiences. An adventurous spirit at heart, Steve found delight in traveling and experienced the freedom of the open road on his cherished Harley Davidson.

Family was central to Steve's life. He is survived by his loving daughter, Heather Lee; grandchildren Jordan Lee (Lindsey) and Ethan Lee (Kaily); 2 great-grandchildren. His beloved wife, Diane {Reed} Jordan, his mother, Ann {Hilliard} Jordan, his father, Fred Jordan, his brother C. John Jordan, and his son, Christopher Jordan, preceded him in death. The memory of their shared love and laughter remains an enduring comfort.

Steve will be inurned with his wife Diane at Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Indiana, resting in eternal peace alongside his lifelong partner.
