Steve Leighton

Steve Leighton, 68, passed away peacefully on April, 7, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio to Ted and Dorothy (Grinder) Leighton, he resided in the area most of his life. Steve enjoyed music, specifically playing the guitar and he also like fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Chris Leighton; stepchildren, Mark, Michelle; brother, Ted Leighton. He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Laura (John) Richards; Dale Leighton. Steve is also survived by his son, Eric Pennell; stepson, Phil; niece, Sarah; nephews, Ronny, Matthew, Ryan, Austin.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, April 20, 2026 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Steve's name to the charity of their choice.
