Stephen Conrad Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Troy, Ohio, to parents Frank and Darlene Davis who preceded him in death. Steve moved to Fairlawn after graduating Bowling Green University and has been a resident of Fairlawn, Ohio since 1966.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Dayle Davis; his beloved “favorite children” Amy Stansak, Angela Overstreet, and Aaron Passmore; beloved grandchildren, Justin Midcap, David Brandy and Payton Overstreet (fiancée Jaikaar Gill); loving brother Kenneth Davis (Carole); and his precious puppy Buttercup.
Steve and Dayle met at The Chapel Akron. He devoted a lifetime to his highest calling of loving Christ through service to others. Wherever he saw a need, he worked behind the scenes to meet it, and sought no acknowledgment, always maintaining anonymity whenever possible. He wanted Christ to receive the glory not himself.
Steve also served as President of Davis Personnel Inc. for 45 years yet still squeezed in time for other activities of service to others. He volunteered on several mission trips including to Mississippi to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. He volunteered on Friday and Saturday evenings in the emergency room at Akron General Medical Center for more than 20 years, always with four dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies in hand to sustain the ER staff.
Steve enjoyed a hearty laugh and loved playing practical jokes on friends and neighbors. In his spare time Steve played handball and golf, went scuba diving, white water rafting, and loved every sport. Above all, of course, he was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan.
Family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, March 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Chapel Green.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, with a meal directly following in the church atrium.
Calling hours and services will be at the Chapel Green at 1800 Raber Road. Pastor Brett Faris will be officiating.
Steve bravely grappled with Parkinson’s Disease for more than 17 years. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to care givers Cindy Cooper, Stephanie Phillips, Laura Weber, and Krysta Van Horn and also to hospice nurses Mindy Hall and Justine Llewellen for the laughter, fun, nurturing and care they all provided to Steve every day. In lieu of flowers, folks may wish to donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research.
