In loving memory of Shirley M. Wasmund, who departed this world on October 19, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 19, 1933, in Cumberland, MD, Shirley brought immeasurable joy and warmth to those around her, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family.
Shirley was a woman of great humor, always sharing laughter and light with all those fortunate enough to know her. Her zest for life was evident in the passions she pursued, whether diving into a spirited game of bingo or hunting for treasures at yard sales. The twinkle in her eye and her infectious laughter were hallmarks of her character, making every moment spent with her one of genuine joy.
She cherished her family deeply, inevitably instilling in them the values of love and togetherness. Shirley is survived by her beloved daughters, Kimberly Ott (Mike Dippel), Kathey (Terry) Bailey, and Doreen Schrader, as well as her adored grandchildren, Alisha (Brian) Cullion and Anita (Ryan). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Ava and Jace Tidwell and Kaleva Bailey. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and they will carry her memory forward, honoring her spirit through the love they share.
Shirley's journey on this earth was enriched by her cherished companion, her cat Angel, who offered her comfort and companionship, sharing her home with all the love and affection that a pet could give.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Miller; her loving husband, Robert C. Wasmund; her daughter, Deborah Porter; her son, Richard K. Mooney; her grandchildren, Macie L. Ott and Ronald Tidwell; and her brother, John “Sonny” Miller. Each of these beloved individuals, though lost to this world, remain forever embedded in the fabric of her family story.
A private graveside service for the family will be held in her honor on October 27, 2025, at Northlawn Memorial Garden in Peninsula, Ohio. The service will commence at 12:00 PM, providing family and friends an opportunity to celebrate Shirley’s remarkable life and share cherished memories.
As we bid farewell to a truly special person, we carry forward her love, laughter, and the irreplaceable memories she gifted us. Shirley M. Wasmund will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in every heart she touched.
