Shirley Ann Duncan, age 92, of Akron, passed away, Sunday, August 23, 2026, at her home.
Shirley was born February 18, 1934, to the late Ethel and Lester Bittner in Akron and has lived in the area all of her life.
Shirley worked for the City of Akron as an Income Tax Auditor and retired after 20+ years of service. She was a dedicated member of Victory Chapel in Portage Lakes for 30+ years where she enjoyed volunteering at church functions, made and helped wrap Easter candy each year, and proudly introducing her loving family to her fellow church members at (Family Days). When Shirley had free time, she enjoyed crocheting and crafting, watching her beloved Cleveland sports teams such as the Guardian's, Browns, and Cavs (whether they won or lost), and enjoying time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob (Peggy) Duncan, daughter and son-in-law, Beth (Mike) Millsaps, grandchildren, Stefanie (Aaron) Buckwalter, Courtney (Ronnie) Morgan, Bobby (Mercy) Crawford, 9 great-grandchildren, 1great-great grandchild, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by 1 grandson, Josh Duncan, sister, Barbara Jones.
A service honoring Shirley's life will be 1:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Road, Akron with Pastor Tim Simmons officiating. Calling hours will be 11:00 - 1:00pm prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
