Sheridan Leroy Rinehart, 90 of Bolivar, Ohio passed away Saturday 8:30 pm at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Massillon under the care of Crossroads Hospice for dementia. He served at the end of WWII in the Navy, before graduating at Bliss College of Columbus in 1950 and Kent State University, Kent, Ohio in 1954. He founded Grandview Memorial Park of Ravenna, Ohio in 1966 and managed Fairview Memorial Park in Delaware, Ohio from 1982 until he retired in 2008 at the age of 80.
Sheridan was very active in several community, fraternal, professional and social organizations through most of his life. A couple noteworthy mentions include his involvement with Lawsonomy from childhood throughout the sixties, Kent State Alumni and was honored for his sixtieth year membership in the Akron Shrine. He enjoyed studying genealogy, looked forward to our family reunion each year and was proud of his long family heritage in America.
Born Jan 14 1928 in Marion, Ohio, son of the late Albert Elson and Anna Ethel Cox Rinehart. In addition to his parents, Sheridan was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd, Howard, Alfred, James, Robert Rinehart and sister Lois Shelton.
He leaves his family including daughter Christine Kohler (Mike), Joe Rinehart (Rose), Marc Rinehart (Karen) , and was preceded in death by his youngest son William Rinehart 1960 - 2003.
Grandchildren: Jeanie Wills (Jason), James Rinehart (Jill), Ben Rinehart (Michelle), Caleb Rinehart (Kaitlyn), Seth Rinehart, Michael Kohler, Jennifer Sherman (Jason), Jeremiah & Shoshanna Rinehart.
Great grandchildren: Savanna Wills, Jason Wills, Ethan Wills, Lindsay Wills, Cameron Rinehart, William Rinehart, Alia Stone, David Stone, Erik Bradshaw, Anika Bradshaw, John Rinehart, Vincent Rinehart & David Rinehart.
Sheridan married twice; first wife Eleanora Alexander (Robert), second wife Ann Estep "Gwen" and although they never married, he spent the last thirty or so years with Virginia "Ginny" Kaufman.
There will be a graveside service with a flag presentation at Iberia cemetery in Iberia, Ohio on Monday, February 5th at 10am. The caretakers name is Linda Rinehart. Sheridan would have loved that and is likely smiling from above!
His urn will be placed near his mother beside his brother Al.
