Shawn James Hollister

Shawn James Hollister, age 54, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025 surrounded by the people who loved him most. Born in Salem Ohio, Shawn spent countless childhood hours exploring and playing in Centennial Park.

A proud graduate of Malone University, Shawn not only earned his degree but also forged deep, lifelong friendships that meant the world to him. For the past 17 years, he dedicated himself to his role as Senior Director of Operations at the Kenan Advantage Group, where he was respected for his leadership, integrity, and kindness.

More than anything, Shawn found purpose and joy in being a father. Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his children, nieces, and nephews on the field or court, cheering them on with unwavering support and pride. He was always present, offering steady guidance and encouragement.

Shawn will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet generosity, and his ability to make people feel seen and valued. His gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his person and closest friend, Lori Dyrlund, and their cherished children, Matthew, Abigail and Jackson. He also leaves behind his brothers, Chris and Tim; his sister, Shannon (Tony) Troy; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Reed, whose memory he carried with him always.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 4 at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd. in Green.
