Sharon K. Schweikert, age 79, resident of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2026. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia, she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born in Akron, Ohio, to Ken and Evelyn Goree. She attended Copley Schools and graduated from Copley High School in the class of 1965. She went on to attend Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing and University of Akron, where she obtained her nursing degree. She was a dedicated RN and worked at Akron City Hospital, The American Cancer Society, Dr. Johnson’s private practice, and retired from Oriana House.
Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and active member of her church, West Akron Church of Christ/Summit Christian Church, where she enjoyed teaching children about the love of Jesus Christ. She had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile, and she cherished celebrating holidays with the friends and family she loved dearly. Those who knew Sharon knew she loved to host fun gatherings—even for Groundhog’s Day! She liked decorating, crafting, and was a lover of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Evelyn Goree.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 58 years, James W. Schweikert; her children, Adam (Michelle) Schweikert and Mandy (Jerry) Gostnell; and her grandchildren, Kayla, Cassie, Chloe, Austin, Madison, and Kian.
