Sandra K. Morris, fondly known as Sandy, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, at the age of 74. Born on February 2, 1951, in Grantsville, West Virginia, Sandy lived a life that was as vibrant and unique as her colorful clothing styles. She was a beloved figure to many, known for her warmth and kindness.
Sandy served with honor in the United States Army, dedicating herself to her country and her fellow servicemen and women. She was stationed in Germany for two terms and spent her retirement years in beautiful Hawaii, alongside her husband, Melvin Morris. Their shared commitment to service fostered a profound bond that enriched both their lives during and after their military careers.
A proud graduate of Calhoun High School in West Virginia, Sandy pursued her college degree while serving in the Army, embodying a spirit of perseverance and determination that inspired those around her. Though her journey took her to various places throughout her life, she always regarded West Virginia as her true home, a place that held a special significance in her heart.
Sandy's love for her family, particularly the children, was evident to all who knew her. She cherished the joyous moments spent together during the holidays, especially Christmas, when she would create lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Beyond her active life, Sandy had a gentle spirit that was reflected in her compassionate nature; she became known for her love of animals, often rescuing stray cats and ensuring that neighborhood felines were well-fed.
Her legacy is carried on by her loving aunt, Virgie (Paul Kuhn) Shaffer, dear cousins including Deborah (Mark) Keen, Beverly Wehr, Ronald (Sue) Anderson, Kelvin (Esther) Anderson, and many cherished friends, especially Becky Kay.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin Morris, whose memory remains a guiding light for those who loved him. She also leaves behind the memory of her mother, Geraldine Anderson, and her cherished grandmother, Edith Metheney, who played a pivotal role in her upbringing.
In remembrance of a life beautifully lived, friends and family are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life with a visitation on Friday August 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 4:00 PM, both hosted at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305.
Sandy K. Morris will be dearly missed but her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, vibrant personality, and unwavering love.
