Sam Mitchell, Jr.

Sam Mitchell, Jr., 89, passed away on November 2, 2010. He was born in Clinton, TN on January 10, 1921, and lived in the Akron area most of his life. He was a member of the Miller Ave. United Church of Christ. Sam retired in 1986 from General Motors Chevrolet Plant in Parma, OH. He was a member of the Masons Alpha Lodge, #376, of Clinton, TN, for over 50 years. Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ruth (Edwards); and 2 sons, Harold and Gerald Holbrook. He is survived by daughter, Marilyn Mitchell, of North Lawrence; sons, John Holbrook, of Akron, Jody (Elaine) Holbrook, of Florida; grandchildren, Valerie Holbrook, Tami (Richard) Nixon, Beth (David) Johnson, Jerry Holbrook, Brian Holbrook, and Alex Holbrook; and several great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours in Akron. A graveside service will be held Monday, 10 a.m. at Black Oak Cemetery in Clinton, TN.
