Listen to Obituary

Ruby Morgan-Pierce, 95, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2025.

She was born on May 13, 1930 in Rutland, Ohio to the late Thomas and Flossie {Romaine} Gaffney. When Ruby was five years old, her mother passed away and she went to live with her sisters for a while before settling in with her Aunt Goldie in Cuyahoga Falls. Ruby's cousin had a friend named Everett Morgan and once Everett laid eyes on Ruby, he knew she was the girl he would eventually marry. Ruby and Everett kept in touch over the years and while he served overseas during World War II, he wrote to her every day. He proposed upon his return home, and they married on December 24, 1947. They settled in Cuyahoga Falls in the home Everett built and started their family which grew to include two sons, Walter Dennis and Timothy Arthur.

Ruby accepted Jesus as her Savior at a very young age and her steadfast faith carried her through some dark moments in her life. She laid to rest her son, Walter Dennis when he was only fifteen years old and her beloved Everett passed away in 1985. Ruby was always involved in local churches. Over the years she attended the Presbyterian church in Cuyahoga Falls, and the Cathedral of Tomorrow. In later years, she found a church family at the Community Gospel Tabernacle in Barberton. It was there that she met a kind widower named Ralph Pierce. Their friendship grew into love and they married in 1997, enjoying many years of happiness before his death in 2015.

Ruby and two friends devoted over 20 years to a nursing home ministry. They were faithful visitors to area nursing homes where Ruby played the organ and sang and the Word of God was shared with the residents. She read her Bible daily and enjoyed reading, writing, and reciting poetry. She never stopped witnessing the good news to others, even in her last days living at Mulberry Gardens. She was a light and a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents; her husbands, Everett Morgan and Ralph Pierce; and her son, Walter Dennis Morgan, Ruby was preceded in death by her sisters, Eileen Hawkins and Mary Larkins.

Ruby will be dearly missed by her son, Timothy Morgan and his fiancee Judith Day; grandchildren, Derek Morgan and Samantha (Kory) Martin; great-grandchildren, Renee and Marin Morgan and Arianna, Evynn, and Quinn Martin; stepchildren, Stanley (Joy) Hebb, Teresa Pierce, and Sherry Wyscarver; and stepgrandchildren, Rachel (Albert) Sankey and their children Celia and Bradley.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, immediately followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service with Rev. Teresa Pierce officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Following the funeral, Ruby will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
