Rose Marie Welfley, 89, went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2014.
She was born on August 10, 1925 in New Martinsville, WV to the late Charles and Mary Batton. She was a member of Akron Baptist Temple, a seamstress, artist, designer, and gardener. A dedicated mother and grandmother.
Preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Chapman; second husband, Paul Welfley; son, James Chapman; brothers, Oak and John Batton. Survivors include daughters, Jane (David) Motz and Cathy (James) Villilo; grandchildren, William (Traci) Grubb, Dane (Holly) Grubb, Brian Sweat, Brandon McKee; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Grubb; great-great-grandchildren, Aden and Aria; sister, Anna Lee Emch; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Summit Villa for their care and support. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice, 600 Granger Rd., Suite 100, Cleveland, OH 44131, attention: Roberta Dioni.
