Ronald L. Hamilton

November 30, 1938 — November 8, 2013

Ronald L. Hamilton
Ron was born on November 30, 1938 in Akron, Ohio. He lost a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on November 8, 2013. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Left to grieve his passing are his wife of 29 years, Deanna; his four children, Mark, Kelly, Bryan, and Valerie (Robert Smith); four stepchildren, Ken Capps, Jerry (JoAnn) Capps, Gillie (Karen) Capps Sr., and Danny Capps; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Hamilton; sisters, Karen Hamilton and Betty Shrum.
Ron graduated from Ravenswood High School in Ravenswood, West Viriginia with the Class of '57 where he still has many friends to cherish his memory. After high school Ron enlisted in the Army Reserves and spent his time at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Ron had many happy memories when he was a kid living on the bank of the Ohio River with his grandmother Mary Hamilton.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Clifford Hamilton from whom he learned his passion for hunting and fishing. Ron was employed at Cunningham Supply for 39 years and was also part owner for several years. He continued to work even through his illness and never officially retired. He acquired many good friends and customers through his many years as a salesman at Cunningham and the family wishes to thank them all as well as the wonderful co-workers he has worked with through the years. Ron was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He maintained a fishing boat at a marina on Lake Erie for many years and loved catching those big walleyes and perch. He also went to Mexico and went deep sea fishing and caught several large fish.
In June he and his grandson, Gillie Capps Jr. went to the Florida Keys for one last fishing trip which he enjoyed very much. Ron also loved hunting with a passion. He would go to southern Ohio with his good friend Gary Barrett and hunt for white tailed deer. They also went to Idaho where he was fortunate enough to shoot a Trophy Elk which weighed close to 1000 pounds. He is mounted on Ron and Deanna's fireplace and he considered it one of his greatest achievements. We named him "Boss".
Ron was a true gentleman: a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Everyone loved his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by everyone whoever came in contact with him but mostly his wife and children and other family members. We wish to thank the Akron General Visiting Nurse Service Hospice and Palliative Care .
