Ronald Gayle Oxley, 82, passed away on February 6, 2026 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on October 18, 1943 to the late Ronald and Beatrice Oxley.
Ron called many places "home" throughout his life, including West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Texas. He also loved vacationing in Panama City, Florida.
After graduating from Goodyear High School, Ron earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Akron. He served an externship with Rockwell International before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He honorably served for three years during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he accepted a job at Rockwell International as a Research and Development Engineer in Akron. He met his first wife Jan and they welcomed a son, Jon. He was transferred to Rockwell's Pittsburgh division and remained until the company was acquired. He later worked for Schlumberger in Kentucky and met his second wife, Emilia and stepchildren, Sasha and Kegan. The family moved to Katy, Texas in 1993 when Ron accepted a position with Daniel Industries.
Ron was a man of faith and enjoyed attending the Church of Christ in Erlanger, Kentucky before moving to Texas.
In his free time, Ron loved building model airplanes and attending the Model RC shows in Toledo, Ohio. He played the four string banjo and shared his love of music with his dad and all who knew him.
Ron's friends and family remember him as a lively, positive person with an animated smile. He loved learning new things and teaching others. Ron was happiest when surrounded by others, telling stories and laughing.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary "Butch" Oxley and Steven Oxley.
Ron will be dearly missed by his son, Jonathan Oxley; stepkids, Sasha Pierson (his devoted caregiver through cataracts, cancer, and other health issues for the last ten years) and Kegan Pierson; grandchildren, Angel, Jocelyn, Ronald Jaylyn, William, and Alora; close cousin, Greg; as well as his distant stepdaughter, Tambra and grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Lana, and Bruce.
