Ronald "Lee" Dykes Sr.

August 1, 1951 — May 22, 2025

Ronald Lee Dykes, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was born in south Akron, Ohio, on August 1, 1951. Lee thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Possessing an ever-present gift of gab, he never met a stranger and seemed to know someone everywhere he went. His concept of family was not defined by bloodline, and he cared about everyone in his family's lives. His door was always open for a cup of coffee and a good conversation, especially if it was discussing Bible Scriptures, music (especially guitar and his favorite musicians and songs,) the horse races and lottery numbers, or his family. He was a unique storyteller, and we will miss listening to his stories and asking his advice.

His life's passions were his family, spreading the Gospel, and his trucks. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's activities, and loved parties, dinners, and visits with his children and extended family. He greatly enjoyed owning his own trucking company, K&L Trucking. And he was honored to be called to lead the women's Bible study at The Haven of Rest and minister to those with ears to hear via The Way Out Prison Ministry.

His race well-run and complete, among those he now joins in Heaven are his parents, Delmar and Elizabeth, and his siblings, Ted and Mary Lou.

Carrying his memory here on earth are his sons, Ronald, Jr, and Aaron Dykes; daughters, Sarah (Jason) Simpson and Mary (Matt) Dykes, and bonus-daughter, Rachel (Jacob) Logue; grandsons, Austin, Adam, Parker, and Bryson Dykes; granddaughters, Alexis and Madelyn Dykes and Ari Schlumberger; great-granddaughter, Chloe Maibach; siblings Bob and Sam Dykes, Peggy Hammond, and Sue Livingston, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, bonus family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Contributions may be made in his name to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org), The Haven of Rest Ministries (175 E. Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44308/HavenOfRest.com), or to his Go Fund Me fundraiser to support his family with final expenses.
