Roger A. Frye, age 78, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born in Barberton, Ohio to Clyde and Martha Frye. He was a graduate of Field HS and attended Kent State University where he excelled both in High School and College as an outstanding track and field athlete. Roger joined the Marine Corps in April 1967 and served two years in Vietnam. Upon discharge in 1971, he became a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 8487 in Mogadore and served as a post commander from 1994-2025. This post WAS, IS, and WILL ALWAYS be his family and home. He was elected as VFW Department of Ohio Commander in 2007 and was later chosen to be Chief of Staff for National Commander Keith Harman.
Roger was preceded in death by his Mother, Martha {Miller} Frye and his Father and Step-Mother, Clyde and Carolyn Frye. Roger is survived by his Sister and Brother-In-Law Brenda and Greg Burton as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Great Friends.
He will be buried at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman proudly wearing the Marine Corps casket he personally chose. He fought all of his serious issues every single day; but that strong, proud, determined Marine body finally gave out, He will definitely be missed by many.
Well-deserved military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd.
