Robert "Willie" Woods
Robert "Willie" Woods, 69, of Akron, passed away on April 21, 2015. He was born in Akron on December 28, 1945 to the late Dennis and Dorothy Woods. Willie proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Goodrich Tire and Rubber. He was a member of VFW Posts 0888 and 3383. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling. For many years he bred beagles.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shelby Smith; brother, Franklin Woods; and sister-in-law, Maxine Woods. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Adam (Niki) and Bret (Sarah) Woods; siblings, Hazel (Robert) Custer, Alta (Donald) Rogers, Raymond (Rodica) Woods, Everett (Bonita) Woods, Rosalie (Jacob) Ukrainiec, Pamela Vaughn, Nancy (Harold) Beachy, Jerry Woods, Patricia (Ronnie) Mothersbaugh, and Brenda (Nicholas) Triola; grandson, Zachary Woods; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 10-12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service with Rev. Robert Stephens officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery with military honors provided by Firestone VFW 3383. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
