Robert "Bob" Whitacre, 80, of Tallmadge, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018 from complications due to Alzheimer's.
Robert was born in Kitzmiller, Maryland on June 27, 1938 to the late Thomas and Edna (nee Harvey) Whitacre. He was one of twelve siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; mother-in-law, Isabella Elliott; children, Anita (Bob) Baughman, Robert (Paul) Whitacre, Pamela (Johnny) Scott, and Kenneth (Colin) Whitacre; grandchildren, Kasondra Scott, Sabrina Whitacre, Mimi Whitacre, and Shane Scott; sisters, Patricia, Sandra, and Beverly Jean; brothers, James "Butch" and Terrance "Wayne"; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his grandson, Johnathon Scott; and six of his brothers and sisters.
The family would like to express thanks to all the staff at Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls with special thanks to the Reminiscence Staff. Your compassion, concern, and care will always be remembered with gratitude and appreciation.
Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, to visit on Sunday December 9, 2018 from 5pm until 7pm, and again on Monday December 10, 2018 from 10am until 12pm. A funeral service will take place at 12pm on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
We will miss the twinkle in his eyes when he was being mischievous, his steady hand when guiding us to do right, his ability to quiet our souls, and his strength and unconditional love and support.
